YouthVille Detroit

A Volunteer Opportunity for Wayne State Students

What is it?
With programs designed for and by kids, YouthVille Detroit offers a broad range of youth development activities from art to computers, academics to fitness, Web radio broadcasting to music studio recording and much more within six core areas of leadership development, cultural and fine arts, education and academic enrichment, technology, health and fitness and music.  It also provides multiple opportunities for adults to volunteer and interact with youth.

Our primary role will be working with children as tutors. Youthville is a great way to interact with the community and spend some quality volunteer hours!

What Happens?
Youthville Detroit is a Project of the Detroit Youth Foundation.  The goal is to “facilitate effective, diverse partnerships with in the community to provide support for young people.”  We work towards this goal by tutoring children in reading and writing.  We assist them with their homework and help them understand important concepts.  By doing this, we “promote a holistic and integrated approach to developing the youth.”
